What happens after you call

Most hail damage is invisible from the driveway. The job is to find it, prove it, and fix it properly. Here is how that works with us.

  1. Free inspection

We check every slope, vents, flashings, gutters and siding, and photograph each hit with a scale reference.

  2. Clear report

You get the photos and a plain answer: repair, replace or no claim. If it is not worth claiming, we say so.

  3. Adjuster meeting

With your OK, we meet your adjuster on the roof and walk them through the damage we documented.

  4. Repair or re-roof

Our own crew does the work, usually in one or two days, and we send the insurer the completion photos.

Roofing services built around hail season

  • Hail Damage Roof Inspection

A hail roof inspection in Calgary tells you, with photos, whether a storm damaged your shingles badly enough to claim.

  • Hail Damage Roof Repair

Not every hailstorm means a new roof.

  • Roof Replacement

Roof replacement in Calgary is usually a one- to two-day job for our crew: full tear-off to the deck, a check of every sheet of sheathing, ice and water shield where Calgary roofs leak, new vents and flashing, and the shingle you choose, including Class 4 impact-resistant lines.

  • Insurance Claim Roofing

A hail damage insurance claim on a Calgary roof goes best when the damage is documented before the adjuster arrives.

  • Class 4 Impact-Resistant Roofing

Impact-resistant roofing in Calgary means shingles rated Class 4 under the UL 2218 test: they survive a 2-inch steel ball dropped twice on the same spot without cracking.

  • Emergency Roof Tarping

Emergency roof tarping in Calgary stops water getting in after hail, wind or a falling branch opens the roof.

  • Roof Leak Repair

Roof leak repair in Calgary starts with finding the real entry point, which is often several feet from the stain on your ceiling.

  • Asphalt Shingle Roofing

Asphalt shingle roofing covers most Calgary homes because it is affordable, quick to install and easy to repair after hail.

  • Metal Roofing

Metal roofing in Calgary is a long-term answer to hail, wind and snow: steel panels can last decades, many profiles carry a UL 2218 Class 4 rating, and snow sheds off them.

Calgary roofs take more hail than almost anywhere in Canada

The August 5, 2024 storm alone produced more than 130,000 insurance claims, and CatIQ's final estimate put insured losses at about $3.35 billion. The Insurance Bureau of Canada says Alberta has had at least one major hailstorm every year for two decades.

That is why we only do roofs, and why we put so much effort into documentation. A generalist can install shingles. Getting an insurer to pay for the right roof takes clear photos, accurate measurements and someone on the roof when the adjuster arrives.

Replacing anyway? Price a Class 4 roof.

Class 4 impact-resistant shingles pass the UL 2218 test, where a 2-inch steel ball is dropped on the same spot twice without cracking the shingle. Some Alberta insurers offer a premium discount for them, and a tougher roof means fewer claims on your record.

Your insurer pays to replace like with like, so the upgrade is usually your cost. We quote both side by side so you can decide with real numbers.

Questions to ask your broker before re-roofing

  • Do you discount premiums for UL 2218 Class 4 roofs, and by how much?
  • Is my roof insured at replacement cost or actual cash value?
  • Do I have a separate wind or hail deductible?
  • What paperwork do you need to apply the discount?

Frequently asked questions

How do I know if hail damaged my roof?

Most hail damage cannot be seen from the ground. Look for dents on metal roof vents, gutters, downspouts and window screens, and for shingle granules collecting at the bottom of downspouts. If those show damage, the shingles took the same hits. A roofer can confirm it by marking and photographing bruised or cracked shingles in test squares on each slope.

Does home insurance cover hail damage to a roof in Alberta?

Hail is a covered peril on most Alberta home policies, but how much is paid depends on your deductible, any separate wind or hail deductible, and whether the roof is insured at replacement cost or depreciated value. Your policy wording decides it, so check it or ask your broker. We document the damage so the adjuster has what they need.

How long after a hailstorm can I make a claim?

Report damage to your insurer as soon as you find it. Policies require prompt notice, and Alberta sets a two-year limitation period for legal action on property claims. Waiting makes it harder to tie damage to one storm, especially in a city that gets hit most summers.

Is the hail inspection really free?

Yes. We inspect the roof, photograph what we find and tell you whether the damage looks large enough to claim. There is no charge and no contract to sign at the inspection.

Will you deal with my insurance adjuster?

Yes, with your permission. We share photos and measurements, meet the adjuster on the roof, and point out damage they may miss. We are a roofing contractor, not a licensed public adjuster, so we cannot negotiate your settlement or promise a claim will be approved.

Should I upgrade to Class 4 impact-resistant shingles?

In Calgary it is worth pricing. Class 4 shingles pass the UL 2218 test with a 2-inch steel ball, and some Alberta insurers give a premium discount for them. The upgrade is usually paid by you, not the insurer, so ask your broker what discount applies before deciding.
